What Brands Actually Look For In a UGC Creator
Most brands running paid UGC campaigns aren't shopping for the biggest following. They're shopping for a specific look, tone, and turnaround time. A creator with a smaller but clearly-defined niche audience is often easier to say yes to than a generalist with more followers.
The things that actually move a pitch forward: a portfolio that shows range across hooks and formats, a clear rate sheet so there's no back-and-forth on budget, and evidence you can hit a deadline without three rounds of reminders.
If you're early in your creator journey, lean into specificity. 'I make honest, close-up beauty and skincare UGC with strong retention in the first three seconds' is a more compelling pitch than 'I make lifestyle content.'
Usage rights are also a bigger deal than most new creators expect. Brands running paid ads need to know upfront whether they can boost your content, so build that into your rate card from day one instead of negotiating it after the fact.
